Teaching a preparation class is not easy. This is what a philosophy teacher at Louis-le-Grand secondary school in Paris was able to achieve, sanctioned after criticism from her students about the quality of her teaching. Despite his nineteen years of experience, the teacher was the subject of criticism for the structuring of her lessons and her level of demands. Two inspection reports led to his being transferred to the scientific preparation after being found by “alarming imperfections» in his classes, Actu.fr Paris reports on March 24.

This professor of senior philosophy chairs was assigned to the prestigious establishment in the 5th arrondissement of Paris in September 2016. She taught philosophy courses to students in the 2nd year literary preparatory class (khâgne Ulm). This was after several complaints from students who criticized the teacher.”an insufficient problematization of philosophical concepts” and “a lack of structuring of its teaching» that the director of the establishment had decided to transfer her to scientific preparation.

Justice confirms the decision of the head of the establishment

As our colleagues indicate, several inspection reports had prompted the client to “adjust the service» from the teacher from the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, by entrusting her with scientific preparation instead. The inspectors had essentially said to themselves:very reserved” Certainly “the suitability between mrs.“.

The teacher took legal action to challenge this decision. In summary proceedings, the Paris Administrative Court suspended this decision in August 2019 and ordered the director to re-examine the teacher’s situation within fifteen days. The Minister of National Education and the teacher then appealed, separately, to the Administrative Court of Appeal of Paris to have this situation reexamined. Finally, the Administrative Court of Appeal in Paris essentially agreed with the establishment’s director and the teacher could not restore the literary preparation lessons.
