Lannemezan. Full season and diplomas on Ski Wednesday

The Ski Wednesdays association organizes ski outings in the Peyragudes resort for primary school students and the Lannemezan Youth Local.

The Ski Wednesday season ended last Wednesday in the town hall of Lannemezan. One season ended with a graduation ceremony in the wedding hall.

The young novice skiers of Ski Wednesday received their first star, their second and third star, or even their bronze or silver star, their teddy bears or their snowflake.

Despite the weather, seven outings were organized

In total, almost a hundred diplomas were awarded by the École du Ski Français (ESF) in the Peyragudes resort. “On Ski Wednesdays,” explains chairman Anthony Clément, “we organize ski trips for primary school students and the Lannemezan Youth Club.” And to add:During this season, seven outings were organized despite the unpredictable weather and lack of snow.

In addition to the playful aspect and fun, the association pursues a social objective, namely offering ski outings to as many people as possible, at a particularly attractive price of € 18 per outing. This price includes bus transport, ski lifts, equipment rental, lessons by instructors from the French ski school, guidance by volunteer guides from the association and snacks.

The special feature is that the equipment (shoes and skis) collected at the beginning of the season remained available to skiers who could use it at their leisure throughout the season. It was said to be a social cause, as without Ski Wednesday some children might not have been able to explore skiing for financial reasons. Because for a simple day ski pass in a ski area, for example, it costs just over €40.

Participation in the passing of the Olympic Flame

No fewer than one hundred and eight children from CP to CM2 from the Lannemezan schools and the youth center for secondary school students took part in the seven excursions for which three buses had to be chartered. And as far as social matters are concerned, during a search just before one of the outings, € 168 was collected for the Lannemezan Telethon.

“During the last outing,” says the chairman, “we organized a slalom competition in collaboration with the ES. This year, several new components were on the program: the arrival of private partners, communication actions through social networks, the organization of the slalom competition, the use of Ecocups to reduce waste, the collection of plastic caps for the Bouchons 65 association, the partnership with Le Local Jeunes for secondary school students and the arrival of the third bus. In July,” adds the President, “we will participate in the Clean Mountain operation and in the passage, in Lannemezan, of the Olympic Flame of the 2024 Olympic Games, for which we are fully preparing.”

The President thanks everyone who, through their help, makes the organization of ski outings possible.

On Wednesday, during the graduation ceremony, we noted the presence of Gisèle Rouillon, the first deputy of the town hall of Lannemezan, Jean-Marie Da-Benta, the deputy mayor in charge of associations, and Fabien Belair, the director of Local Youth.
