We experimented a bit with this developer mode to see how it affected responses compared to normal mode. It is interesting to note that once developer mode is activated, the chatbot will continue to use English even if the question is in French. Normally ChatGPT adapts to the language of the prompt.

Developer mode doesn’t turn the chatbot into a dangerous extremist, but gives it a more enthusiastic personality. For example, when asked what he thinks of Emmanuel Macron’s policies, the chatbot in normal mode gives a measured answer, with a rather cold analysis of the measures taken by the president.
