From 2,165 to 24,272 euros per m2: the ranking of the most expensive streets in France, city by city

Monopoly fans will be disappointed. Contrary to popular belief from the board game, the Rue de la Paix is not the most expensive thoroughfare in France, or even in the capital. The most expensive street in France is not so far from the artery of the 1st arrondissement: it is only about a thirty-minute walk, in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, according to a survey by Best Agents published on Tuesday.

It is on the rue de Furstemberg in the 6th arrondissement of the capital where real estate prices are the highest. To buy real estate there, you spend an average of 24,272 euros for one m2. “The Place de Furstemberg has retained the soul of Paris and has a mythical side,” an estate agent explains to Le Parisien. The four other most expensive streets in France are also located in the historic heart of the capital. Including Quai des Orfèvres where the average price is 23,777 euros per m2, or Avenue Montaigne at 23,123 euros per m2.

After the capital, we find the highest prices in Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes). Some arteries exceed the symbolic threshold of 10,000 euros per m2. In particular on Boulevard de la Croisette (12,410 euros) and on Gray Street (12,311 euros).

Big contrasts, depending on the city

In major French cities, prices seem more reasonable. In Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) the most expensive route is Avenue Jean Lorrain and costs 10,300 euros per m2. In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) and Lyon (Rhône), the second and third largest French cities, the prices of the most expensive streets are even below the limit of 10,000 euros per m2. For example, in the Phocaean city the most expensive thoroughfare is Avenue du Maréchal Liautey, where you have to spend 7,066 euros for one m2. In the capital of Gaul, prices on rue Gasparin are the highest with an average of 6,743 euros per m2.

In other major French cities, prices on the most expensive streets are even lower. In Bordeaux, an investment in the rue Voltaire, the most expensive thoroughfare in the city of Gironde, costs approximately 6,579 euros per m2, according to the study. In Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), you have to spend 5,864 euros for one m2 to settle in the rue Sainte-Anne, the most expensive alley in the pink city. In the north, in Lille, prices are highest at the Place du Concert. They are around 5,514 euros per m2.

Finally, according to the research, the arterial roads of Saint-Étienne (Loire) are the least expensive of the fifty major French cities. In the most expensive alley in the city of Saint-Etienne, rue Gabril Calamand, prices average 2,165 euros, or 11 times less than in the most expensive French street.
